Dispute Resolution

In a world where many of the old certainties no longer hold true, you can be sure that JS will always fight to protect and advance your interests.

We get to know you, understand your objectives and devise a strategy for success: recovering what’s rightfully yours; maintaining a precious advantage; severing or restoring commercial relations; upholding one’s reputation; establishing a point of principle.

Sometimes, it will be a question of survival. But no matter how high the stakes, we also recognise that your goal is moving beyond the dispute and getting back to business.

We keep an open mind as to how this may be achieved, whether by negotiation, mediation, arbitration or in the courtroom. We will consider all options, always putting your interests first.

JS are agile, versatile and independent - unafraid to take on the big challenges, and the big firms, and to win.

Recent experience has included:
  • Acting for a well-known manufacturer of sports and fitness equipment in a complex, multi-million pound share purchase warranty dispute. The matter was settled on confidential terms following mediation.
  • Successfully discharging a $3 billion freezing injunction obtained by a sovereign wealth fund against a private individual, on the ground that a fair presentation of the case had not been made. The underlying claim was also dismissed for lack of jurisdiction.
  • Acting for multiple defendants in $500m proceedings brought against them by a sovereign nation and its national bank. The proceedings were discontinued by agreement.
  • Representing a successful tech company founder (one of multiple defendants) in proceedings in which a group of claimants are seeking a share of his business pursuant to an alleged investment agreement.
  • Representing a hedge fund portfolio manager against his former employer in High Court proceedings for recovery of unpaid bonuses.
